About Me

My name is Muhammad Ali Kermali. I am a self-motivated, fourth year Computer Science student at York University, experienced in problem solving and critical thinking. I have a strong interest in cars, computers and programming.

My University Experience

I am currently a fourth year student at York University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. My favourite things about my program is the strong emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Through my participation in hackathons organized by Lassonde's BEST program, I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge in real-world scenarios, solve challenging problems, and work with talented peers. These experiences not only strengthened my technical skills but also fostered creativity and teamwork. Additionally, having the chance to judge another hackathon allowed me to gain a new perspective on problem-solving and project development.

My Co-op Experience

One of the most rewarding co-op learning experiences I had was during my time as a Software Developer Intern at SOTI. I was responsible for creating a carousel widget, and the last feature I worked on was carousel templating. This feature allowed users to create interactive pages within the carousel and populate the fields using a REST API. Initially, I hesitated to take on the challenge and considered letting a senior developer handle it. However, I still researched potential implementation strategies and eventually came up with an idea. After discussing it with my boss, I was given the opportunity to implement it myself. While it was a difficult task, the experience was incredibly rewarding. Overcoming the challenges and successfully completing the feature not only boosted my technical skills but also reinforced my confidence in tackling complex problems independently.

My Career Goal

My career goal is to become a software developer. While I currently have experience as a full-stack developer, I am eager to explore different fields within software development to expand my skill set and discover where my true passion lies. Whether it's full-stack, embedded, cloud computing, or even emerging technologies, I want to continuously learn and adapt to new challenges. My aim is to work on innovative and impactful projects that push my technical abilities while allowing me to contribute meaningfully to the tech industry.
